Kikuno “Kay” Asada, 93, of Kailua-Kona died March 19 at home. Born in Makawao, Maui, she was a cook, a member of a gateball club and karaoke club in Honolulu; a member of Daifukuji Soto Mission, Captain Cook Senior Group and Taisho Kumi. Friends may call at 10 a.m. Saturday at Daifukuji Soto Mission in Honalo for an 11 a.m. memorial service. Casual attire; no flowers. Survived by sons, Ray (Gail) Asada of Kaneohe, Oahu, Richard (Sheryl) Asada of Stevens Point, Wis., Michael (Cindy) Asada of Captain Cook; daughter, Lynn (Larry) Cook of Clinton, Ark.; hanai daughters, Nika Cantor and Glendora Guy, both of Kailua-Kona; brothers, Yoshiharu Kurosawa of Honolulu, Tomio Kurosawa of Maui; sisters, Marian Yamanishi of Maui and Louise Chinen of Honolulu; nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Janet Katherine Brodwolf, 88, of Kapaau died March 21 at home. Born in Patterson, N.J., she was a retired registered nurse. Memorial at 10 a.m. May 5 at the Kapaau family home. Survived by sister, Carol Boyd of Pennsylvania; sons, Kenneth von der Heyden of Long Island, N.Y., Kurt von der Heyden of Kapaau, Alan (Jill) Brodwolf, Kent Brodwolf and David Brodwolf, all of San Diego; daughter, Kate von der Heyden of Long Island, N.Y.; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Anne F. Carvalho, 101, of Medford, Ore., formerly of Hilo, died March 25. Born in Makawao, Maui, she was retired, worked for the Board of Water Supply and was a secretary for The Normal School on both Oahu and the Big Island. Private services. Survived by daughter, Dianne (Fred) Fiebelkorn of Medford; son, Kenneth (Jeannine) Carvalho of Medford; five grandchildren, one step-granddaughter, six great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws.

Max Goldberger, 88, of Hilo died March 3 in Big Bear, Calif. Born in Transylvania, Romania, he was a Holocaust survivor and worked with the Hawaii County Economic Opportunity council as a physicist and scientist. Private services. Survived by son, Leon of Big Bear.
